From Suggestion to Discussion-It's TAX RATE INCREASE TIME

Here's a nugget from the preliminary Council agenda. I don't think it will make it to the full Council. We'll see. Oh by the way, our current rate is .64 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. You do the math.

There better be some pre-meeting acrobatics on this because there will be hell to pay if it gets passed. Who was the ass-clown that put this on the preliminary agenda? Was it the same councilperson that "mentioned" it in the budget meeting? Hopefully Scott Lindsey has better sense than to put yet ANOTHER tax increase on the citizens after the County Bond (53 Million), ROISD Bond (95 Million). How much is enough? When will the Council cut staff, double up on job responsibilities and get rid of the useless Economic Development Committee and bring some business revenues to Red Oak. This is absurd...and you know...it's not for the kids this time! :<)

Read it and call your councilperson NOW

A. Discussion and consideration of approving the Public Hearing dates, times, and place to consider a proposed tax rate of .667 cents per $100 of assessed valuation and increase tax revenues, for the proposed Fiscal Year 2008 Budget."

If it means a raise for the firefighters and cops, (and not more money spent on landscaping), then I have no problem with it.
